A land of polders and rivers: Waking up under a white veiled dawn

Stripped of his robe, but stately as ever,
his branches rise high above the river…

Of course, a tree in its full splendor in the summer is incredibly beautiful and impressive. But trees in their winter bareness fascinate me very much. Bald but proud, reaching to the sky…

In my entire portfolio you will find only a few photos without the characteristic movement. This is a photo in a small series that I made at 2 moments: in the winter and in the summer, standing on the banks of the river Maas in the Netherlands. Similarities between those 2 moments: early in the morning, fog and the sun slowly breaking through it.
I love this series, because of the impressionistic feel, the enchanting moment, the beauty of the large stately trees and the memory of the silence and the beautiful light.
